I'm a nursing home nurse
I work a twelve hour shift
Sometimes I wish I had something
To give me a lift
I love these old people
Some of them I call honey
And you can believe I'm not here
Just for the money
Yeah, I'm a nursing home nurse
I'm proud to say
I'm a nursing home nurse
I like working this way
I walk these halls
Givin' shots and pills
Sometimes it seems
Like I'm always walking up hill
But when I look back
I feel good and smile
Things always get better
In a little while
Yeah, I'm a nursing home nurse
I'm proud to say
I'm a nursing home nurse
I like working this way
Now, some of my folks
They need special attention
But if they're a problem
It's never their intention
I give a hundred percent
I never get mad
And when we lose someone
It hurts and makes me sad
I'm a nursing home nurse
I'm proud to say
I'm a nursing home nurse
I like working this way
My patients here
Aren't goin' nowhere
They're like family to me
I give 'em the best of care
Sometimes things happen
That make for a tense situation
Sometimes I pray for help
And my people's salvation
I'm a nursing home nurse
I'm proud to say
I'm a nursing home nurse
I like working this way

Are you (or they - I'm a little confused) paid enough?
Sounds like the place has a great atmosphere - which says something for your write, I think.
'It's never their intention'
love the humanity
in your portrayal of empathetic job satisfaction
thanks for sharing, dear poet
you've imbued so much warmth
in-to these lines
I'm a nurse and this is a wonderful poem! Thanks for writing it!
