BERT

Andy Hunter

I’ll always think of Bert as a very loyal friend.

A true gentle man upon whom all could depend.

He never had a lot to say but what he said made sense.

He understood in his own way and never took offence.

A prudent man I was proud to know who always gave his best.

When working hard to earn his dough – Bert was happiest.

After work he’d go to the pub and share a drink with his mates

Enjoyed a laugh and the banter – his regular escape.

He always joked he was a young man, just in an older man’s frame.

He never gave up on his dreams and things will never be the same.

His motto was always do your best it won’t happen unless you try.

And with his wise words in my head, it’s hard to say goodbye.

Bert worshiped his kids and adored his wife.

He worked long hard hours for them - all his life.

So, I’ll raise my glass and share a drink in memory of happier times.

And look back on a true diamond, Coz Bert was a friend of mine.

A tribute to an ordinary but fulfilling life, Andy. The salt of the earth.
