Worship Me?

Tune: Saffron Waldon

(one tune to 'Just as I am')

Matthew 4 v.8-11

*********

The devil took Jesus to high

Mountain, showed Him there by and by

All the kingdoms of the world, He

And their glory did see

The devil said, All these things will

I give you, each vale, town, and hill

If you will fall down, worship me

All these things shall yours be

Jesu said to him, Get you hence

Satan, and tempt not providence

For it is written, That you shall

Worship the Lord, know well

Worship the Lord your God, and He

Only shall you true serve, so be

The devil left Him, and, behold

Angels helped Him, it told

Jesus ne'er to temptation yield

Did you, though Satan words did wield

To turn you from the way of cross

But the outcome his loss

my personal Buddhist path precludes my worshiping anyone or thing .. but I have no objection to the beliefs of those who hold dear differing thoughts and principles .. and with that now off my chest, I wish thee well and must dash .. I gotta plane to catch .... 🐧🐭😎👍

I don't get it - who said the devil had title rights to all that stuff anyway. Probably wasn't his in the first place--- Did Jesus ask to see the title deeds...Alright - He may not have wanted to accept, but it would have been wise to know for sure that he was dealing with a con man....

Thanks Dave. The devil lied to Jesus about it. If Jesus gave in, He would be under the devil's power.

How did Jesus know the D. was lying if he had not seen the title deeds and consulted his lawyers?
