The cycle of blame

Aya Kadid

There are two voices in my head

One is blaming me, and one is blaming you.

I don’t know which one to believe,

I don’t know which one is true.

They both sound right

And they both sound wrong.

I keep fighting the battle of “it’s my fault”

And “no it’s not, it’s his fault”

I keep replaying everything in my head

Trying to find a reason to pin it on

I’m stuck in this vicious cycle and for what?

You are long gone

And have probably moved on.

Suffering begins when justifications intersect before our eyes.
Self-blaming becomes a painful daily routine.
Then the spell of the moment mutates into a wonderful new poem.

It’s like, the hurt is good for my art, which in this case is poem writing. In a way, there’s beauty in everything
