Tune: Crucifer

('Lift high the cross')

John 12 v.24-28

*********

Chorus

Unless a grain of wheat fall in the ground

It shall abide alone, thus shall be found

But if it die, it brings forth much fruit, see

Shall come to new life, grow productively - Chorus

They that love their life, hold it selfishly

Shall lose it, there no self-denial be - Chorus

And they that love not their life in this world

Shall keep it to life eternal unfurled - Chorus

If anyone serve Christ, let them follow

Him, and them His servants His presence know - Chorus

If anyone will serve Christ, He does say

His Father will honour them, with them stay - Chorus

Now is my soul troubled, what shall I say?

Father, save me from this, my Passion's day? - Chorus

But for this cause He to this hour came

Says, Father, glorify here true your name - Chorus

The full original hymn has 12 verses. There are some olde hymns that have 18, 24, or even 30 verses!

This seems a lovely hymn-poem of Spring dear friend. Renewal and rejoice!

Appropriate with Easter a coming. Some people have forgotten, or are unaware of its origin. That damn Easter Bunny needs to stay in its hole! Pagans can hang out with us though.

Thanks JM. I was spluttering away at one church, aghast - they hardly knew what a hymn book is. It's 'Choruses' for them - the same ones sung about 5 million times - seems like that many times. Doh!

Oh O - you're still writing them and maintining the sanme standard, I've just told Miss B.
