The Marks on Our Ceiling
There are times, when I am forced
to remind myself
those seemingly innocuous stains
on my dining room ceiling ..
Were once, nothing more, than some
intriguing red mark on
my neighbour upstairs, bedroom floor
Jeez, I so hope it was wine ..

Fido will come round and sniff things out, to find out what it is! lol.
a very generous offer Mr. O please thank F for the offer on my behalf, but this little scribble was penned regarding events of the distant past .. I doubt whether the building still stands, let alone the mark I refer to .. cheers 🐧🍷
"The Marks on Our Ceiling" is a poem that captures the speaker's reflection on the stains on their dining room ceiling. The speaker uses irony and humor to convey their uneasy thoughts about the origins of the stains. The poem's title itself sets the tone for a contemplative, reflective piece that ultimately turns out to be an amusing take on an unpleasant experience.
you write reviews like a professional reviewer might write a review .. the cheques in the post by the way & thank you again 🙂
🙂..Nothing to say,,,just 🙂
The joys of communal living....I live on the top floor, so what goes down stays down.....
................................................... yuk 🐧
Ooooh -- could be old blood or tomato sauce maybe - why not ask one of those ghosts that must haunt your ancient dwelling.........x
this was long before I had my ancient dwelling .. now don't that make me sound old .. but I trust you get the drift .. 🙂 x
Tempted to ask how high these ceilings are.
Mum always had us never eat in the bedroom lest the tomato sauce or any other sauce fall and stain.
back in those days, I was often higher than the low ceilings & have never tried tomato sauce 🍅
Sorry Neville I am not allowed to tell you what they are. LOL
Andy
ooh err .. must be good then .. ta 🙂
this is harrowingly, relatable
and
I so love how subtly you imbue
social commentary in your poetry
these words, beyond the fun
expose the eventual consequences
we'll be inheriting
when so much of our youth, assume
living excluded from the wider world
is better than learning the skills
to socialise and coexist
with others...
(another important message
worded light and accessible
thank you Hyung
I read n learn)
Whilst seeing it my way may not, always be the write way .. Who am I to argue at the end of the day .. Cheers Mek anyway .. and many thanks indeed my friend .. Neville
