When They Would Lose Their Shadows

Neville

When They Would Lose Their Shadows

The scent she always

wore to bed

was so much more

inviting

than just a simple

invitation ..

Or an understated

statement

might have been ..

But rather,

it was more,

a complex extension

of her own

near nakedness

and her subsequent

intentions ..

Oh’ what games

and gifts,

she would later offer

play and ply ..

When his statue

by the fountain

in our beloved garden ..

Would then,

for a while at least ..

Be sure,

to misplace its own

shadow,

alongside that of her own ..

    Brilliant!
    (Unearthed
    we delve free of restraint
    a touch, a glimpse
a shared intimacy devoid of reason
seeking, that which fantasy fails to imagine
    I remember, warmth
in cold eyes, daring me to dream
    my fingers
    trembling, and ice dancing cacophonous
    as I approached
a glass in each hand, a stutter in every step
    wordless, knowing
she was already sipping on wine
    I offered her a glass
    statuesque, we stared
    life pressed play, around us
    she and i, lost
    to existence's influence
only that winking moon, teased us
it all felt like it lasted a lifetime
.. then she took my glass
emptied her wine, right there on the grass
by my shoes, some dropped on the leather
I looked down, tagged by her scent
and I smiled, wide as a gaping cloud
and offered my glass, to toast
a new chapter in our life
    she, merely blinked
in-time, with our shared pulsating beat
    ...
    that night, we hardly moved
    all night
merely spoke till silence, rudely interrupted
    by alerting us
to the absence of everyone else
    that night
    our shadows, danced naked
as that knowing moon, serenaded us
    ...)

Some of those statues have a lot to answer for mi amigo - - love the way you pen the suspense ahead with comparative personification. Great read............x
