The risen Jesus did appear
To the disciples clear
He said, Thus it is written, know
The Scriptures do me show
Show it was necessary for
Christ to suffer for sure
And to rise from the dead third day
And now to live alway
And that repentance, remission
Be preached, sins forgiven
In Christ's name, mission unto all
Nations who hear His call
At Jerusalem it shall
Begin, and too know well
That you are witnesses of me
Of all you hear and see
And, behold, I send the promise
of my Father, true this
Upon you, the Spirit He be
To guide you constantly
But stay a while in the city* (*Jerusalem)
Until the time you be
Endued with power from on high
My presence e'er you nigh
