Under No Misconception
Would you believe
not one
of the old fella’s
eighteen surviving
children were
misconceptions ..
He still
swears each of his
nine lads,
seven lasses
and two, not quite
sure abouts,
were all deliberate
and likewise,
individually planned ..

- Comment from author about the poem: I personally don't have a problem with gender fluidity etc etc but I know what my parents would have thought about it and they were very open, forward thinking and had no bigoted or known prejudices whatsoever .. Come to think of it .. several of their friends were either gay, or bi-sexual, as indeed are many of my own .. I do however, have a teensy issue with the idea of being able to switch gender on a whim and also, the current concept of there being in excess of 80 individual genders to pick & mix or choose from .. I hope this view doesn't get anybodies back up, and I am prepared to back up my thoughts on the matter having worked for many years to date, with those who have gender dysphoria, various forms of personality disorder and psychosis .. Anyway, given what is currently happening here in the UK particularly between England & Scotland, I thought my little scribble was quite timely .. Oh' and do please feel free to call me Suzy for the remainder of today only π§ππ€

Gawd bless ya my very dearest and fairest if Fay\\\'s .. One day I may just share the story of my dear old Dad who once recounted during a family reunion .. that when he met the surgeon who performed the caesarean section on my Mum and asked if his new baby was okay .. the surgeon laughed out loud and said yes, the little fella is built like a Brahman Bull .. it has all been down hill since then though π π x
Very good and thoughtful poem. Yes, we have that issue in the old US of A but now they are letting children decide what they want to be and not letting parents know....a topic that is hot right now. I also am not bigoted, have a lot of gay and bi friends and family but children is a whole nother issue...x
Welcome to the club Christina .. and thanks for being in my corner .. x
Good write Suzy, erm, Neville. heehee.
I think an acknowledgement or something very similar is in order Mr. O so I'm sending you a much deserved acknowledgemental π€ͺ
Been thinking of late about generations and such. Our lines of succession will end within 2 more generations, that's including cousins and nieces.
Cheers CB .. I just found out my great grandfather x5 times back was John Smith the Elder who was the leader of the Culworth Gang and was hanged as a highwayman at 10 a.m. in the morning of Aug 4th 1787 π§
"John Smith the Elder, who is described as βa man advanced in life, but of great bodily strength and daring energy of characterβ led the Culworth gang. I knew there was leadership and daring in that pose by the tropical palms N!
that's the very same fella .. apparently he wrote poetry via a helper in view of the fact he was believed to be illiterate π I am delighted you were interested enough to undertake a little bit of research into my very distant ancestor .. Neville
oh, by all means, good sir! History is who we are or what we have been made of and a rich source of poetry as well. One one side of the family tree we have traced all the way to the 15th c, a minister at court who was banished for opposing views on war.... where has that happened recently one might think. lol
I never gets any 'excitement' or any of its connotations anyway. And Fido certainly don't let me have any 'ardour'. He says it's not good for me and KP to have ardour. lol.
I suggest a little self help intervention might be in order .. Why not tell Fido to go shut the pup up and maybe if you also write out a couple of hundred times, "I must refrain from being so rude to KP and in future, stop being such a fur ball" you would get along much better π
Ohh, how to counsel, with psychiatric help maybe, the eccentric, or the plain nutty, such as me (sometimes)?! Fido must be my conscience I reckon. lol.
Some nutty person saying an imaginary talking dog won't let him have any 'ardour'? The men in white coats are here for me....
"Under No Misconception" is a thought-provoking and well-crafted poem that invites the reader to reflect on the meaning and value of parenthood, family, and intentionality.
On this occasion, I beg to differ Mott, .. but as you know, a gentleman never tells .. a bloomin good effort though for which I thank you and truly π§
Good words Suzy which I agree with, in all my long life I have always tried to treat everybody with respect no matter what sexual orientation they may or may not be.
Andy
that is good to hear oh' golden one ..
dear Suzy, court case floodgates have began worldwide;
those political vultures, have yet again profiteered
now those who were caught up in that political activism
hashtag tidal-wave of collective ignorance
find themselves entrenched
in those quicksand's of consequence, only
now, no one cares about their regrets or pain..
there must be a place worse than fantasy hell
for people who capitalise on the vulnerable
there must be, an entre galaxy dedicated to it
just for humanity's vile vultures
still
I hope those who are truly suffering with their identity
can find avenues of healing and counselling
(an important write, dear Poetess)
Oi that monika has now expired ............... π§π
lol
(couldn't resist)
