Still Calm, Safe and Free
Still,
as a windmill
without
wind on its sails ..
Calm,
as a new born
held
for the first time,
in its own
mothers arms ..
Safe,
as houses,
a temple
and cathedrals ..
Free
as a spirit,
the wind or a
bird ..
And even more
free than
the love that
flowed ..
Throughout
the summer of 67 ..

Good write N.
Was it '67 that I married KP? I dunno. Seems like hundreds of years ago, as time is NOT going quickly, as I'm NOT enjoying myself - to reverse that saying! lol.
Now me next poem - 'Each day an agony (with KP)!'
if you can't remember, maybe the scotch or other alcoholic beverage you partook of on the day in question, was not as watered down as you had planned
A tender look back to a special year when, from your delicately chosen comparisons - - maybe -- - a much loved new born appeared -- -- well only my guess of course - -- but such a beautiful feel to this read my dear friend............x
Thanks Fay, if I am not mistaken, 67 was the famed summer of love .. x
Brilliant!
way too kind but thanks a mint Mek π
The poem is a beautiful meditation on stillness, calmness, safety, and freedom. The use of vivid imagery and comparisons creates a sense of wonder and contemplation in the reader. Love thisβ€οΈ
You really are good at this game .. and very very kind to this old fella .. thanks Mott π
Summer of '67 that was a good vintage year.
I do believe so .. I also believe they say if you can remember the summer of love, then you weren't actually there .. N π
Well, I'm digging deep here when I say that from mainly one word "own," I sense the author is writing of his own birth. Also, the punctuation of the title
"Still Calm, Safe and Free" hints at personal feelings.
Those four words end up being treated separately in the context of the poem. I wonder of the significance they have to the author. I mean, why a "windmill" to define stillness? So, I'm probably way off base, but that is what I sensed upon reading this. Greatly enjoyed. - Phil A.
Hey Phil, what an interesting, thoughtful and subjectively well reasoned visit sir ... now I know, that you know, that a gentleman neva tells, but I am happy to say you may be pretty close .. perhaps π§
May that love be forever with you Neville.
