MISSING AUNT CAROL

Missing Aunt Carol

Both heard the call. "Straight no Chaser" said it all. Barkeep readied Scotch, kept neat. The 88's tingled a most disharmonious beat, Round Midnight he displayed , unashamed, teary eyes that clue those who care to look, his walk through hated change, his grief, hazed fog, pervasive funk. He tipped his glass, longed for one last smile, Aunt Carol, he, and Thelonius Monk!

Now sir this is what I call a reminisce .. it is unusual upon the eye for a uncannily good rhyming poem .. initially I thought prose, but on eventual reflection .. I proved my self wrong .. Sadly, because of the pain of loss that inspired it, I enjoyed it no end ... and a fine introduction to your ink ..

Wow! Sadly I find well thought out commentary on the rare side on this site and I keep hoping that shifts soon in the other direction. If you like jazz , perhaps check out my piece ( on video) that speaks to how I feel Hip Hop and Jazz are the same. I would value your thoughts should you be so inclined to take s peek. It’s titled
Thelonius Reborn As the Dee Oh Double G.
    Many thanks already.

I like how your poem took off with bebop fast tempo-great that she still inspires you-

I love you got the Jazz. I tried to convey that as I walked in that one sentence was exact direction for two people. Straight No Chaser , a famous Monk tune was a signal the piano should start the tune while also a request to bartender to pour a straight scotch , kept neat and I proceed to sink into the grief the familiar club caused to surface. Very few put that together and to you , I salute. Thanks it means a lot.
