Echoes Seldom Lie These Days
Hey, whoever would have
guessed ..
When I first slipped off
your dress ..
That we would still be
here together,
even after all these years ..
And whoever might have
thought
we would have, as much as
we have left
to play with, at the sharp end
of a very long day ..
They all told us not to bother
and to mostly
disbelieve each other, since
quite simply there
could not be a middle way ..
So the moral of this story is,
don’t believe
in anything at all, since there
are so few,
universal truths, these days ..
Although, there may be one
or two exceptions
for example, echoes seldom lie
and robins eggs are
almost always, some shade of blue ..

Loved the flow.
thank you kindly my friend π
Good write N,
You know I'm gonna say this - I never got past the first verse with KP. I fainted at the removal of her dress. lol.
It was probably due to the fact she caught you wearing it in the first place, well that and of course the cold air against the fur on your shoulders, back and belly that did were responsible for that particular episode of dropsy .. π§πππππππππππ
Though perhaps written under guise as a cautionary tale , it didnβt fool me, the splendor of this optimistic Tome shone bright and made me glad. Plus I learned about echoes and reaffirmed my long love of Robinβs Eggs.
You are far too kind sir and in turn, I thank you BIGLY & kindly and truly .. Neville
so glad you're on the right side
of that capricious echo, dear Poet
(this, that cruelty of callous fate
what's granted to one, is echoed
rarely
to those majority, who spend
an eternity trying to remember
'the colour of that dress'
'from that one Time'
when for a brief, teasing shadow
it felt like, this moment would
foreshadow future nights, where
we would replay this scene
again n again, till forevermore
was a fact
we had realised and cherished
as part of life...)
Wowsers Mek .. I've gone as pink as me aunt Gerties pinny π

Long-lasting relationships deserve a tribute and this is surely one of the best penned reminders to listen to nought but the heart - --Great stuff my friend - reminds me of that long-ago song - "They tried to tell us we were too young"
Bless both you and the ink you have spread upon this page dear lady Fay .. x
But what of your surprise, when out from robin's egg pops Orchi in swooning song. π
as if that's ever gonna happen .. I dont think he gets out too often and then not much further than the end of the run attached to his hutch .. ππ§
P'raps echoes are reflections sounding off in our hearing.
I never looked at it that way before .. a sound for sore eyes ......... maybe π
This poem is a poignant reflection on the endurance of love and the unpredictability of life.
You are very good at this game you know .. Thank you yet again Mott π
Besides the physical ties that bind there are the emotional and psychological ties as well. The fire never dies if there is fuel and an open chimney.
Your poem paints a picture of long-lasting love, and how rare it is in today's throw-away world. As for "echoes" and "robin's eggs" - What we say or speak is of major importance, and life has a full palette of blues. Loved this one. - Phil A.
Yet again Phil, I am well and truly gobsmacked by the generosity you have bestowed upon my little collection of words here .. Many sincerest thanks kind sir .. Neville
