Roses Don't Hurt

horrorautumnpoet

Life is a rose, and then the wind blows.

All I know

is that it's beautiful on top.

Like a breeze flowing through a cloud,

or down on the tree.

Gathering some sticks and leaves

Varying from the rose, it's the thorn that's twisting

Seemingly ETERNAL.

My comments on the poem "Roses don’t hurt” by horrorautumnpoet
The wind blows and blows away some petals. Just as with our lives. But, we have no choice but to struggle on. The rose has a short lifespan. Ours is longer, but might be extinguished at any moment. Both the rose and our life are fragile. So, we must make the most of it. Poetry lasts forever, so we must compose poetry. The thorn seems twisting and always looking to prick us. It does a good job protecting the rose, however. Perhaps that is why it is there, as a guardian. Soman Ragavan. 27 May, 2023. //

The thorn eternal , is that maybe representative of the ubiquitous force that we may expect ot to forever be our foe and suggests no rest for those enjoined to clear a righteous path?

      • horrorautumnpoet

Yes but exempt the part about righteous path. nothing about evil or good ways. That is more of a reflection bestowed from unexpected trauma..
sometimes it goes away sometimes it hurts longer. if it would have interpreted a righteous path i would say sometimes its tethered to us but that was not my intent.

if it was a force, it wouldnt seem... it would just be eternal pain and suffering like hell or whatever you think.

The omnipresent chaotic path Hmmm targeted w no pretense or bloviation.

I’m not yet secure w esoteric and my comfort is a realm tilted slightly w metaphor and some uncommon phrase but mostly ends w tried and true direct course

hmm i tend to sway and go off course a lot in my writing maybe that's just us being compatible through differences?! anyway, but "eternal" has such a context embedded in it that I used it to show imagery mostly, and going back to your first comment, that is definitely one way of looking at it. to see the eternal struggle against a foe in the midst of creating a clear path. 🙂 i guess that would be the more elaborate telling.

                  And we symbolically connect
