Tune: Newcastle
('Eternal Light! Eternal Light!')
Luke 11 v.33-36
*******
No one, when candle has lighted
Causes it benighted
To become, puts it not wihtin
A secret place, that it therein
Light's flame does not begin
Nor do they put it under bush
As if it hidden, hush
But puts it on a candlestick
That there it may burn with its wick
What size be, thin or thick
So then all they may see its light
Shining clearly to sight
The light of the body, the eye
It be, thus when your eye clear, see
Body full of light be
But when your eye is bad, then this
Body full of darkness
Take heed therefore that the light in
You be not darkness, not of sin
But shine clear from within
If your whole body full of light
No part dark, no part night
You shall be full of light wholly
As when bright candle shines purely
Gives light radiantly
