Since your Departure

nkznoodles

Since your Departure

it has been long

since your departure

and so it has been long

since I was me

because now my every living moment

is missing you desperately

quiet nights feel brutal, a raging blue, a violating ache

walks in the park don't excite me

and my smiles fleet and feel fake

coffee doesn't taste as good

all my conversations feel rehearsed

words are only half as full

knowing they sometimes, most times, aren't true

I sit in the shower and weep like a child

I eat plain dry bread

in the blueberry dark, my bedsheets are cold

and the twin bed, made for two

always stays half made

your deep red cherry lipstick

still sits in the second drawer from the left

remember how you used to kiss me?

on both eyes, both cheeks, forehead, nose and lips?

it has been long since your departure

and I haven't been able to let my guard down

how long till you come back home?

how long till my life feels mine?

        pain motivates, art
yet to distil that inspirational spark
        and word our feelings
as relatable lines of poetry, takes
        a calm hand
a wise mind and a hopeful heart
(a great read, thanks for sharing)

thank you so much. art does often act as medicine for internal, emotional pain, and I truly greatly appreciate your comment and reading, you are so kind.
