Sorrow and Resilience

Sofia Coffey

In the darkest depths of sorrow's embrace
Where tears rain down upon my damp face,
A heart once filled with joy and laughter
Silently mourns the morning after.
A burden from its loss,
Bound like chains on a cross.

In solitude, it wanders through empty halls, echoes of past laughter now silenced,
As the world around me falls.
A symphony of pain, a melancholic refrain,
Whispering secrets of anguish, a soul in disdain.

The moon weeps diamonds in the starless sky
As the heart's broken pieces refuse to comply.
A shattered, shallow existence,
Dreams turn into dust.

For even in sorrow, there is strength to be found.
Through tears and anguish, new seeds may be sown.
So let those tears flow, release the pain's grasp,
And rise from the ashes, mending the fractured past.

For within the deepest sorrows, beauty may reside.
As the soul learns to heal and love is redefined.
In the depths of sadness, a phoenix will rise,
With wings of resilience,
Soaring through the skies.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This poem means a lot to me. I try hard to make this poem reflect life, and the constant struggles that we all face. But even with that, we still are able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Please give a lot of feedback on this!
