Blessings (An Acrostic)

AuburnScribbler

Brought from ancient birth, comes their

Loving hold, to keep us safe from

Evils made, thus, keeping us from cold,

Sheltered by our pride and dreams, we

Shine upon the Earth, though that

Innocence may be lost, there is a thirst to learn,

Nothing can change the fact, we’re here,

Guessing what’s good, for a while, a really

Special thing it is, to cast a true smile.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Finally, a poem written in a happier tone. Though my recent poetry has been a "captain obvious" like highlighting of the dread and gloom we create, there are some lights in the dark. I count my blessings, and find myself lucky, to have my health, my family, my friends, my music, and of course, my poetry. In particular, I count this very site, MyPoeticSide, to be one of my blessings, as it is such a welcoming community, that is keeping both friendship and poetry alive. I hope that you enjoy this acrostic poem, thank you for your kind attention and warmth, and at times, a much needed kick up the backside, and as always, please do stay safe everyone.

There was (is still?) a newspaper column called 'Dept of the B****** Obvious' (DBO). lol.
    Howdy, Cap'n O. (Obvious).

Thanks for the read orchidee, and yeah, I think I remember said column, though with what you've mentioned, in terms of name, it might not have come from a "credible source" of a tabloid, it might have been from the graceful pages of Viz Magazine. Hahaha!

I hope that all is well.

Those smiles are so important in our lives.

"😊 SMILE, IT CONFUSES PEOPLE! 😊"

Thanks for the read Andy, and I really like the phrase you've used here.

A smile these days, by certain sensitivities, can sometimes be an act of inappropriacy, but I like you, say, let a smile return to being a smile!

I hope that all is well.
