OBSESSION.

David Wakeling

Blind arrogance! You are the fault in this world,

Vile, mindless and sad; obsessed by greed.

You stand accused! You are the Devil's herald,

Inside each man, inseparable as you lead.

How many long, long rigid hours some have tried,

To banish you forever ; to tear down the idols in your place.

Only to have you bring them closer to your side.

They are obsessed with you in your tragic face,

So that blood chokes the heart, they can fight no more,

Until sleep closes them and they adjourn till morning,

Where in the light of day they repeat the chore,

Let's hope more careful is their step at dawning,

This small universe will not hide you from their wrath.
