When the Limelight Sucks
I think perhaps if
I had to
make the choice,
I would
much rather be,
a sparrow
than a swallow,
or indeed
a swift, since I just
can’t take
the limelight or
the highlife any more

- Comment from author about the poem: believe it or not, this is entirely true ..although being a swift for a day or two might be rather special

Are channeling Taylor Swift? Iโm sure that she is lost cause for fame-or weโre talking about the other swiftโs-either way I like the theme around the potency of the limelight
I much prefer watching the other kind .. but understand where you are coming from .. thank you P ๐
Good write N. You The Birdman?!
there are no flies on me sir O ๐ญ๐ง
Nice writing )) I guess it can be difficult to have so much attention on you ..
Sparrows always look like friendly birds
You are absolutely write my friend ..... again ๐
I liked your authors note...that this was not entirely true. I bet you do love at least a hint of the limelight. Not a bad thing at all. I did enjoy your poem!
thank you Christina8 & very muchly .. ๐ง
LOL I would never want to be a kookaburra, apparently they are very naughty. I do enjoy your love of birds dear Nev ๐ค
how about a red thighed falconet .. โค๏ธ
Oh so neat.
'Got that right Neville; I like to travel incognito whenever possible...... get a smidgin of paranoia when the local cafรฉ remembers my name.
Note to Teddy above: Nah - Kookas are good 'uns except that their laugh doesn't appear to be in response to my rapier wit, rather taking the piss. Lorikeets are much more delinquent...
incognito is fine providing I can remember who I am the following mane .. ๐
Birdlife and nature's limelight is how I read it. It shone different from that vantage point. An insightful read this was Nev. ๐๐ผ
you could be write .. you often are .. and I thank you always ..
humility's subtle ways
as my chosen lanes in life
it's ok if everyone soars above me
I'll wear the neck brace
as long as my feet remain grounded
and my ego, in-check...
(I read and learn, my wise friend)
love the imagery
(a timelessly in-season poetry, if you will)
lol
fantastic .. bless you brother Mek I sure couldn't wish or hope for more than what you have given ... Neville
Those sparrows can be the light of the world Neville, spreading their light to everybody.
