We’re Going On a Witch Hunt (A Parody of "We’re Going on a Bear Hunt" by Michael Rosen)

AuburnScribbler

We’re going on a witch hunt,

We’re going to catch a right one,

We’re so fair,

Oh what a dutiful day!

Oh look! It’s a magnificent band wagon,

Can’t avoid it,

Can’t say no to it,

Can’t get rid of it,

Got to go ride it!

We’re going on a witch hunt,

We’re going to catch a right one,

We’re so fair,

Oh what a dutiful day!

Oh look! It’s some big, bright text!

Can’t ignore it,

Can’t get rid of it,

Can’t get over it,

Got to get through it!

We’re going on a witch hunt,

We’re going to catch a right one,

We’re so fair,

Oh what a dutiful day!

Oh look! It’s a technicoloured newsflash,

Can’t not watch it,

Can’t not agree with it,

Can’t deny it,

Got to go along with it!

We’re going on a witch hunt,

We’re going to catch a right one,

We’re so fair,

Oh what a dutiful day!

Oh look! It’s a blubbering, sorry star,

They can’t hide it,

They can’t fight it,

They can’t refute it,

They’ve got to admit it!

Uh oh! It’s so wrong in here,

I feel something,

It has lots of faults,

It has unresearched words,

It’s a mistaken merry mob!

Quick, hurry back to reason,

Back though the wood of biased media,

Back through the citied hate of man,

Run in the house, lock the door and dream!

Phew! That was close!

But I’m still so afraid!

  • Comment from author about the poem: At the present time, particularly in the UK, there is a lot of "bear-bating" going on, as a result of quite a lot of witch hunts. Though, what certain "disgraced" celebrities may have done, are reprehensible, to me, it's nothing compared to the utter disgusting "nature" of the "merry mob", ganging up on one person, just because it seems to be popular to do so at the time. This poem is a parody of the words of "We're Going on a Bear Hunt" by Michael Rosen, of which, a YouTube link of the original is located above. The banner picture I think is very apt as a visual accompaniment, as it clearly screams: sharing the words of rumour. I hope that you enjoy the poem, I hope that your opinions are not wholly based upon concentrated spurts of popularism, and as always, please do stay safe everyone.

Thanks for the read and for your kind words peto, they're very much appreciated, and yes, let's hope "merry mobs" around the world take a good look at themselves, before they willingly pounce!

I hope that all is well.
