When a Diet Does a Fat Lot of Good

When a Diet Does a Fat Lot of Good

not surprisingly perhaps,

he just knew

it would be a good day

when she eventually

stopped asking herself

whether or not

it mattered that much,

if the all too

familiar thread veins

and weight

gain she had packed on

during winter ..

which was perhaps not

surprisingly,

a poor excuse, could not

somehow be

halted, sucked away and

worked off ..

or at least, spread around

a little bit then

redistributed and shed ..

I imagine they do . Yet there is help for them . I guess some people can struggle with their food when feeling certain ways .

sadly its an all too familiar problem with multifactoral causes .. and can have such an adverse impact on both males and females and their friends and families ..

      • Violet bluebell( used to be yellow rose)

        Yeah , it’s sad .

KP's got fat lately. She will go all baggy when she has fat-removing treatment! lol.

        • Neville

I would be inclined to start looking after her .. those things that are so often said in jest can have such an awful & long lasting negative impact .. 🐭

Thanks N. Yes, I can understand folk with eating disorders, but not KP. She just scoffs her face, with her motto of 'me, me, me'. You ever seen a trout eating?! lol.

Yep, we gotta love our enemies too, in my 'spiritual' themed poems - even KP. She's my enemy for sure. lol.

This is so true and in my house we struggle with it all! My wife has to lose it and I can never put it on and I have found over all these years many don't see both sides. Not much help to gain weight or people think I'm lucky but if only then knew...

            Great writing my friend

Yes Dan .. far more complex and widespread than many might imagine .. one never really knows what goes on behind closed doors, or beneath thick woolly jumpers and overcoats .. ta for taking some time out with me mate .. Neville

My dear Neville, there are so many reasons people have eating disorders you bring a great discussion. πŸ’–

thanks awfully my very dearest of Teddy's πŸ’–

'Hesitate to engage with you on this topic, Neville as I’m sure you could run rings around me with respect to clinical expertise.
                However, here’s my two penn'orth:
Not talking anorexia here (far too complicated) but the other end of the eating disorder spectrum.
My POV is that of one who is diabetic, dependent on insulin.
Forget diets. They exist to fill column inches and sell glossy magazines. Straight advice to those who feel they need it: reduce each meal by a quarter a third or a half as necessary. This is a long-term discipline.

I could not possibly agree more sir Dog .. thanks for your penn'orth too mate πŸ‘.. Neville

so true Hyung, gotta find a way
                  to laugh about it
                  sadly, having experiencing it
                  close up
                  has changed my perspective
these days, I see anyone who survives an eating disorder
                  as a genuine hero
                  that vicious cycle of psychological
                  and physical, toxic self comparisons
                  is so hard to break
                  just like most debilitating addictions
25 years sober, is no guarantee
this is a war they have to fight
                  all their lives
                  only without diabetes injections
                  to support their weaknesses
one slip, and it all starts again
horrid, horrid plague for a person
                  to try and overcome
they're all heroes in my book
                  and those helping them
                  tantamount to saints
they both need so much empathetic stamina..

                  • Neville

I yet again, concur entirely .. cheers my friend ..

So many people have eating problems, I am very fortunate in that I will eat anything place in front of me but not overeat.
