Behind the Screens

AuburnScribbler

All they wanted to do, was to be your good hosts,

but, with such an atmosphere, they become the ghosts,

as the BBC controls, ITV’s so toxic,

is it any wonder why, these acts are so damned sick,

opinions are not theirs, they’re molded by them,

the stale masters of the telly, who indeed condemn,

“watch your “ps and qs”, and please thank our sponsors”,

the oversaturated task, overseen by censors,

no privacy anymore, they are now the owned,

what they eat, what they do, stations can’t condone,

signed upon a dotted line, to become so very dead,

to be a corporate puppet, isn’t living in the head,

some; who lead a crowd, may just be born so evil,

such as the guy who fixed it, a bastard called Saville,

also those who wanted to sing, become strong consolers,

such a sad, sad story, is the Bay City Rollers,

a graveyard of minstrels, is found in Hollywood,

demands galore pained their souls, they did what they could,

with sour normal judgment, they are slammed of what they took,

it’s not about their blood streams, it’s about the muck,

that’s waded through by them, who dared to dream,

just like Phil, as Joseph, but now he’s off the team,

“excuse Mr Edwards, how does it feel to be the news?”

“I thought I had the right, but it’s clear I cannot choose!”

It’s vital to rectify, and indeed reprimand,

to make a start of clearing up, such a dirty land,

but these many witch hunts, are hypocritical,

as human core operation, makes things critical,

though these well-knowns, admit and apologise,

it seems that dullard viewers, cannot compromise,

neither can execs, see the error of their deeds,

that have made so many tears, behind the screens.

  • Comment from author about the poem: In a world gripped by the gritty reality of heavy industry, and immoral politics, there are those who dare to dream. However, it would seem that the media biz/show biz, is also a place that can lead to great upset. To me, the media biz/show biz is a double-edged sword. On one edge, you have the intention of being as wholesomely creative as you want, but in reality, the powers that be, apply puppet strings on you, thus your opinion, your identity, your sense of self isn’t yours anymore, which leads to the abuse of your actual being. The other edge of the sword is that, over a prolonged amount of time in such a business, you can become a disgusting puppeteer yourself, as the fame and fortune that is bestowed upon you, overinflates your ego, making you think you can do anything, including taking permission for granted, and losing all sense of decency. Though, the elephant in the room will always be, in both cases, you are relentlessly judged by the viewers/listeners, who think they own every part of you. With this in mind, I give you this poem. The banner picture, to me, is a perfect representation, of the words featured in this poem. I hope that you enjoy and take something from this, and as always, please do stay safe everyone.

    Such true words Ben.

I believe that in our world 99% of people and things that happen are good but all we here about is the 1% that is bad.

Thanks for the read Andy, and I hope that your estimated percentages, about the good and bad things in life, can soon be reflected more clearly, in the very near future.

I hope that all is well.
