Responsibility of domestication

Poetic Dan

Trust is built on a path of respect
All life will give out what it gets
Unique to the individual time and again
As long as no one gets physically hurt
Then there's no wrong or right way
To earn loyalty lasting the end of days

It has always been there, this idea we want all life to be free!  Yet could that really ever be a possibility as everything in the universe follows some kind of pattern or rules, why should we be any different.

For those that have had children will understand that little battle we have with how much "freedom" do we give, as a responsible Adult I have my duty of care that should be taken very seriously but with a balance to let most experiences be through expression and the ability to make hard decisions.

Even if you don't have a dog or pet then how much freedom do you give yourself! Eat what you want, when you want or drink, smoke and take anything you want! Spend every penny you have or don't have borrowing more and more.  This list can go on and on!

It took me a while in life to set my own boundaries and limitations, yet once I dealt with a few major ones my life has never been the same.
It's never an easy thing to do and help is always needed in finding where we stand in our own way, then having the energy to change any habits is sometimes a lifetime journey.

Many interactions have sparked these thoughts but the two that standout the most is the subject of domestication and responsibility.

I first got triggered by a homemade sign on a local gate. At first I thought it was for a lost dog but no it was the picture with an aim to blame the person that left the gate open had killed their dog.  Now this is not a dog only park (we don't really have them in the uk) and do owners not carry any weight of responsibility!

I personally think it's disgusting to blame others for the lack of knowledge they had, to of either but more training in place or have it on a long lead to keep it safe.

I've been told and I'm sure I will be again and again to let the dog be a dog, all they want is freedom. Even those that say they have done their own research still think with the same attitude that I struggle to understand this

As soon as I  started to read and study it came very clear that our way of living really messy with a dogs natural way of life. Everything they want to instinctively run away from we say "no don't" and everything  the instinctively want to chase we say "no don't"
from nearly everything indoors we have to help them by conditioning their mind to deal with it!

This is definitely not an easy subject and I may write more to this but for now I'll just be grateful for doing my bit!

Much peace and respect

  • Comment from author about the poem: We don't really know how long we will be here so somethings it just needs to be said! How else will we leave our unique print on this world. Don't be concerned with popularity and care more about this actual reality. Others will always talk about those that follow their own path, yet let those that can always keep an open heart!

        that great gentle soul, Spinoza
        in championing oneness
        did so by advocating, temperance
        above all else, even
        in our utilisation of temperance
        itself..!
        ergo
        the key component in tempering
our actions and living a balanced
        life
is by first and most critically, choosing
        to take accountability for ourselves
        our feeling, our actions and
        our responsibilities;
freedom, is a most beautiful ideal
the anchor to that we envision
as being good or innately humane
        and yet
        that same freedom, often comes
at a most absurd crimson price
        why, because there's always those
        that choose to ignorantly, selfishly
        believe, their opinions and assumptions
        are more important
        than the responsibility thy have
        to consider the greater collective!
        Discipline
        deemed an ugly, restrictive word
        when devoid of discipline
        all our rights and possibilities
        lack validation or worth
        just a wild abandonment style
        of life, where the consequences
        of thoughtless actions
are paid for by others, who choose
        to do the right thing..
        so yes
all our domesticated pets and animals
are meant to roam free and live
        in the wild
so then, why not let them be
        why get a pet
and then try give it freedom
        better, to take accountability
        of our guilt
        admitting, that by choosing
        to keep a pet
        we are choosing ourselves
        over that animals preferences
        but
in taking accountability for our choice
        we are making a promise
        to provide our pets
        with the very best lives
        we can offer them
        and so with temperance
        as our mindset
we strive to find a balance
        from keeping them safe
        and keeping those
        who interact with them, safe
        teaching them, correcting
        their aggressive tendencies
        and thus allowing them
to experience a life, full of love
        and wagging tale happiness..
        lying to ourselves
        and assuming everyone else
        will know
how to interact with a pet
        is abandoning the promise
        we made to our beloved
        companions in life...!

            just reflecting your vibes, brother
entrust in your innate, humble vigour
'know thy self: to be worthy
of all you aspire towards in life'
            let everything else, simply be
be the pebble, never the spear
ride those waves of breath and delight
            'stay' strong!
