The Mess They Leave Behind
I don’t care what you
say, she said ..
Just leave me alone
to get high
in my own head ..
So he did, and she
promptly
threw herself, from
a bridge ..
The driver she hit
perished
there at the scene ..
All the newspaper
headlines
confirmed he died
instantly ..
Whereas she,
on the other hand
sits propped
between pillows ..
Peeling grapes
and writing poetry
from a
hospital bed
somewhere ..
Biding time, until
her compensation
claim comes through ..

That’s really sad … (( has to be difficult to hear that type of news .
Some people are so depressed that they think there is no other option ..
I guess the guy should have stayed and not left her alone
Thank you Violet .. I think some people need to take a deep breath and think about the possible consequences of their behaviour, not only the impact it might have on themselves, but also the bigger picture and upon others .. a bit like that old saying look before you leap .. thank you for visiting today .. Neville
Yeah thinking before acting ..I think some people don’t think
Enough when in the wrong way mentally or emotionally .. and then do things they then feel bad about .
I know what you mean
A fine write N.
that's just fine .. thanks awfully Mr. O
Is it in any metre - a 7.7.7.7. or a 10.4.7.6. or whatever ya want?! lol.
Technically, to call it 'metre', it must have certain accented syllables in the lines. Me poetry skills don't stretch to that, so I call it 'format' now, or just give the numbers - like bingo!
Wow that was intense. And many times truth has been proven stranger than fiction.
like I said .. just another day at the office .. cheers CB ... N
Here, attempting suicide is a crime. She would have been prosecuted. Really, compensation?
Some people ought to be more aware
of the consequences of their actions.
Your poem highlights the results of today's "It's all about me!" attitude. How the hell does one peel a grape? Just another excellent piece of writing. Enjoyed it. - Phil A.
thanks for contributing to this little, social experiment Phil .. Neville
There are no such things as accidents these days as all people want to do is blame somebody else and get money from them!
Andy
a lot of people sure do ..
Well I just ain’t sure whether this is a tale or true reportage, and yeh I know a gentleman never tells. Thus I’m left to make my own mind up about that….
Either way, irony is something I’m well into, so thanks for a bit of dark entertainment, Neville.
both sadly & unfortunately very true .. the poetry was an embellishment, I believe she was writing out a list or something .. I have seen this twice to date .. different women, same bridge & no kidding .. thanks for paying a visit .. Neville
Hyung,
I bow to your empathetic endurance
I can barely handle my own sht
let alone walk through life, wading
through other people's, mire...
(escapism as our artform of ignorance
we assume, all is fair
in our neurotic crutches of life
even when those crutches are formed
of the goodwill ashes
of those who invested in us, or
the innocent collateral damage
of the
thoughtless choice we make in life..)
and then there are those days when nothing makes sense or seems to matter at all .. thank you brother M .. N
The fact that she killed someone whether she was injured or not should send her straight to prison.....no compensation for that kind of dumbassery in America!
It’s a funny old world out there .. good to have you back C .. N 😎👍
