Killing a Ladybug

sorenbarrett

Ask yourself honestly

have you ever thought of these things?

You may say you do not believe

but absolved by completion, what relief it brings

Do you step around a ladder?

Do you feel uneasy if a mirror you break?

Hesitate when going to step on a crack?

Make a wish when blowing out the candles on a cake?

Do you say bless you when someone sneezes?

Have you carried a rabbit's foot?

Avoid the number 666?

Ask not on the 13th floor to be put?

Do you have a lucky pair of pants or shirt?

Have you ever your fingers crossed?

Hang a horse shoe only pointing up?

Tied three knots when something you've lost?

Made a wish on a falling star?

Shook hands with your right when your left's as good

As a host made a toast?

Knocked on wood?

Most have done some of these things

Superstition gives a sense of control

reduced tension it brings

Even when science we extol

Now a black cat crossing me path was not lucky for me - I tripped over it and fell down a hole! Doh! (I made that up).
We have a black cat, and a tabby cat as pets.
It seems it differs in different countries - in some places it's unlucky.
Not that I believe in 'luck' in rambling on here!

Now, nope, never carried a rabbit's foot. Not seen any 3-legged rabbits about, thankfully!

Thanks Orchi for the read. Glad your not superstitious it makes life a lot easier.

I am not that superstitious soren. My daughter was born 13th January, one of the houses that Joyce and I lived in was Number 13. Fine words though as there are many that are superstitious.

Thanks Gold I too don't think myself very superstitious but the key word is very. I do find myself following superstitious customs such as a white wedding dress for the bride, shaking with my right hand although this might just be following convention and in some cases common sense such as not putting my shoes on the table.

        well, science
        in its purest form
        is (like philosophy)
        a, most humble
        aspect of our species,
        where we readily admit
        we know nothing at all
        and unchain our innate
        inquisitive traits
        (well then
        if we're admitting
        we don't know, what is
        or what works, best
why not make a chain necklace
        with a four leaf clover
and offer it to our lover
        and then maybe we tattoo
        a few rabbit foots
        and horse shoes
        all over us, you know
        just in case, something
        work to our favour..)
        lol
        a deeply meaningful concept
        you've introduced for our
        contemplation treat, thank you!
        oh wise Poet
a fun read as well, cheers 🍻
