EU Factor 5000

AuburnScribbler

Put aside petty differences,

and take a look outside,

where there are no inferences,

really please confide,

as heat does burn across,

to make day-tripping fear,

stop acting like a stubborn boss,

it’s time to help out here,

it is no Euromyth,

that 60K did char,

why do you always miss,

when you're at the bar?

This is no game, it’s life,

make some better rules,

stop adding to the strife,

and start refilling pools,

for water, sweet water,

should continue its flow,

but, falter, dear falter,

is your way to go,

a Union, should bond,

use, EU Factor 5000,

as you have to respond,

to form a better land.

  • Comment from author about the poem: It's a bit warm in Europe at the moment, thus, I think they need some powerful sunscreen. Enter, EU Factor 5000. EU Factor 5000, is both the quiz team name, I and some friends used at last week's pub quiz, but also, it could be the name of a concept, that the European Union could adopt, in order to heal many discrepancies, including mass agricultural problems, and of course, the important controlling of water supplies. I know that I am a British guy, thus, a person who now lives outside the EU, thus, my opinion could be considered to be hypocritical, or somewhat redundant, but I am still a European, and I have a need for things to get better, hopefully via the improvement of infuriating systems, that are proudly written by "the powers that be". The banner picture, is the closest to resemble "scorched Earth", or a very dry rural scene, which to me, is a potent visual, that tells us of how bad the situation is. As I keep on saying, I hope that things get better, I hope Europe can cool down soon, and as always, please do stay safe everyone.

No danger of it here in UK - though it's pleasantly warm and summery.
We want it hotter, then when it's hot we want it cooler, and so on. Doh!

Thanks for the read orchidee, and we should be thankful of the recent rain here in the UK, as agriculturally, we do need it, but bless those on mainland Europe at the moment, really do hope that those wildfires stop very soon.

I totally agree with what you've said about the UK having a "Goldilocks" standard/double standard, we who used to "rule the waves", need the weather to be "just right!"

I hope that all is well.

        Ok thanks AS.

Dearest poet, your words hit hard and justly. You have expressed eloquently in this poem, and in your comments, the plight that has befallen us all. In my own USA, the principles our government was founded on have long since gone by the wayside, there is no will to work together and the clock is ticking on so many problems. The Republicans who have been staunch climate change deniers from day one, now talk about planting a trillion trees as an answer, but don't touch fossil fuels or reduce carbon emissions. Whatever we who vote can do, we will do, and hope that all reason and intelligence is not lost. Such a great write, you truly lit a fire here. An absolute fav!!!

Thanks for the read and for favouriting this poem Bella, it's very much appreciated.

I'm glad that I've sparked such an enthusiastic response from you, of which has many kind words indeed, and yeah, our frustration and anger ebbs and flows, because of the subpar operation of the powers that be, and as you've indicated in your comment, certain "U-turns" that politicians perform, in order to stay in favour, not because it was the right thing to do right from the start, is a disgusting cherry on top of such a revolting cake.

Thanks again, and I hope that all is well.

Such good words Ben and so very true, why cannot those 'powers that be' realise what is going on, presumably if they do what is right there will be no money in it for them!

Thanks for the read Andy, and if a crisis like this cannot persuade the suits to actually change for the better, I don't know what will, such a pantomime!

I hope that all is well.
