I Can't Find My Life

John Lee

I can't find my life

I lost it along the way

My back scarred from knives

Walk'n a road I didn't pave

Everywhere I look it's dark

I can't even play my part

Thought there was light in a plea

But it only left fire in me

Jesus said mercy is for the merciful

But the more I give the more I'm played a fool

Living under the thumb of those who have none

Fans the flame in me where I can't hear the Son

Speak the truth and you're in denial

Just play along the words of their song

Live a lie to have a repeating life

Given a record to hear too long

I can't find my life

They say it's only their way

I mourn as fruit dies

Place it's death along their way

Speak blessings not curses

But the ones I've blessed leave me cursing

I tear out this heart to pull it apart

Carve out everything that caused it's hurting

It's a lonely road

So pick yourself up

Carry your own load

No need reaching up

When you do you'll find it's only you

Even feels God has turned His back too

Love of many grown cold

And dumped it's hate like coal

The light of hope too far to see

Or it just doesn't shine for me

If suffocating pain is all it'll be

Then leave my life lost cause it's just not for me
