Tune: Coelites Plaudant
('Christ the fair glory of the holy angels')
Isaiah 51 part
*********
The Lord shall comfort Zion, her waste places
Shall be rebuilt again, radiant faces
Shall be seen, His people endued with His graces
Each one His love traces
For Zion's wilderness will be like Eden
Fruitful and flowering, prosperous to men
Joy and gladness shall be there, voice of melody
They the Lord's blessings see
Thanksgiving too, and hope shines bright, restorings
God's righteousness is nigh, salvation He brings
Fear not the reproach of men, the Lord acts sure
To defend you e'ermore
Therefore the Lord's redeemed shall return to dwell
In land of Zion, and every tongue shall tell
Of His glories, everlasting joys they share
And in Him each well fares
They shall obtain joy and gladness, so sadness
And mourning be no more. for the Lord shall bless
Comfort and provide for them, His peace giving
He the Lord e'er living
