So now you care

peal

You could say I never considered you to be special to me

Now you struggle to fit yourself into my life

Like an unwanted puzzle piece

It's hilarious to think

That you believed you could show up and I would accept you

I thought "So now you care"

Maybe you've always been there

But not to be what I expected

To make me learn and experience fear

To know the taste of my warm and cold tears

To feel what little confidence I had dissappear

As soon as you opened your mouth and said

You said I should smile at people, so they don't misunderstand

What a joke, so now you care

I cry and clutch my heart when you shout

I feel my heart ache for my sister becoming like me everyday

As she can't speak straight and avoids anything in your sight

You want me to be confident

You never cared, so why now

I got into habit of of looking at the ground

Especially when you came around

I wondered how you could sleep happily

When insomnia came right at me

You asked me to look at you straight in the eye with no baggy eyes

It really is to late to care

Why do you think it concerns you

If I'm isolated each day

You took everything away

Now you wonder why I appear so quiet

So unstable and scared

Now you care

When I tried to leave, you stopped me

Oh, so now you care?

Your poem "So now you care" struck a chord deep within me, leaving me with a lump in my throat by the end of the first verse. Its raw power and heartbreaking sincerity resonated with my own experiences of holding my chin high, only to lower it in fear and shame.

The imagery of the "unwanted puzzle piece" and the poignant repetition of "So now you care" encapsulated feelings that I've felt myself. I want to tell you to hold your chin high and be proud of who you are. Be strong, be courageous, even though I know it's a struggle I've faced myself.

Your words are a testament to your talent and your ability to tap into universal emotions. Please continue to share your voice with the world. Your words have touched me, and I'm sure they will touch many others.
