Awake At Six.

Goldfinch60

I am a lark,

Always up about six.

I always have been like that,

Even when working,

The alarm clock was redundant.

Now well into my retirement,

That time in the morning

Is so special.

It is the time

When words come to me,

Words to be written on a page,

Like those on this page.

I can look out the window,

And see the wonder of nature.

I go for walks and walk with nature,

Walk along My River,

Where My Spirit

Joins its soothing flow.

So yes, my mornings are special.

But what I don’t understand

Is that no matter when I go to bed,

Be it ten or twelve,

I still wake up at six.

I still wake up at six

This poem sings like a morning melody and represents a hopeful start each day-a delightful read indeed

Every day I awake I consider to be a good day Parisab, thank you for your fine comment.

Why yes, a younger (not too young) friend moaned that he had to get up at 7.30am on work-days. Oohh, very late!
That's almost half morning gone - well, or a quarter of it. lol.

      • Goldfinch60

I agree Orchi, the last job I had before retiring I left home by 7:15 am.

And - the friend had to start work at 8:00am. Don't know how he got dressed, had brekkie, and made the drive to work all in 30 mins.

I'm a gloom and doom merchant - at some point in September even, it is dark still at 6am onwards.
Then after the Autumnal Equinox, there is more darkness than light for the next 6 months.

          • Goldfinch60

The darkness is fine as the light of the universe can still be seen when you look up.

Beautiful! I relate so much! I'm always up before 1am. No alarm necessary. So, yes, my mornings are special! ❤️ Have a great day!

              • Goldfinch60

1 am? the night has barely started then Liz, or are you a night bird and sleep during the day? LOL

I hope you have great days as well.

I feel you answered your own question, something inside you loves the inspiration? Or maybe just your body clock.
I seem to sleep for 6 solid, odd hours!

                  • Goldfinch60

My body clock has always got me up about that time 2781, but now being retired I do nap in the afternoons.

You've captured evey nuance of the joy of early morning in this poem dear friend. I share that love and thank you for the beautiful sunrise pic, the music, the words.
