No Top Trump

AuburnScribbler

Here’s a thing, I’m sure you’ll agree,

government shouldn’t be revelry,

it’s a duty, to serve the people,

not a stage, to build the steeples,

of those who think, they can get away,

divide the hope, blacken the day,

so, why is Westminster, roaming free?

When across the pond, there is a plea.

We past owners, of the “colonies”,

in moral have become, weak at the knees,

members of the house, make a den of robbers,

there are no court dates, no decent coppers,

yet, we see their guy, from The Apprentice,

who’s told to stand, to answer for justice,

whilst on our doorsteps, no trial is given,

for those who con, to form British system.

Sunak continues, to empty our pockets,

perhaps to stock-pile certain rockets,

for a last resort vent, we could deploy,

of which, I’m sure Donald, would enjoy,

for he may have made them, run up that hill,

to storm white dome, to re-write the bill,

and back at the British Country Club,

the old faces, don’t want to budge.

It would seem, that progress isn’t here,

we’re told to bow down, to the life peers,

in our customary surreptitious method

that was the Empirical secret weapon,

but if a former president, can be shamed,

we could clean our cabinet, that is so stained,

so we can get out of this dated dump,

in a time, we hope, there’s no top Trump.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This one, is clearly about holding heads of state/politicians to account. It's very frustrating that in the UK, there was no official trial, over the rule-breaking "Party-Gate" scandal, just a very flimsy investigation, (of which, is still somewhat unpunished), hence, in my opinion, there seems to be no general fairness, legally, to hold the establishment to account. However in the US, Donald Trump, is standing trail for certain crimes, that could have unlawfully toppled the vote, and of course, resulted in a riot. There seems to be an obvious void of justice, and a void of practice, when it comes to UK and US politics. Thus, when it comes to this particular action, in holding the establishment to account, I think the US is doing much better, as it would seem that the UK, in it's anchored ways, wishes to cling on to outdated traditions, and therefore, not wanting to be progressive. Of course there is the massive elephant in the room: Russia! If things remain the same, due to people not wanting to change, there will always be a dangerous despot! Accompanying the poem, is an apt satirical sketch from Pinterest, by Sousa & Machado w/E. Rodgers, and the banner picture, I thought suitable, as the tide is a very potent representation of the ebb and flow of politics. I hope that you enjoy the poem, a million times again, when will it get any better? And as always, please do stay safe everyone.

Ohhh, I told them not to trust anyone with such a dodgy barnet (hairstyle) - Trumpton Barnet! lol.

    • AuburnScribbler

Thanks for the read orchidee, and I agree, it's an awful hairdo.

The US have Trump, and we have Boris, both of which, were very questionable. That's both in their style and their actions.

I hope that all is well.

If only it depended on hairstyles....! We're turning robotic-now, maybe, with RishAI - called 'Biggles' too, with keeping his helicopter. I saw Bozo in a clip jogging - quite ghastly to see. lol.

        • AuburnScribbler

"RishAI", I like what you've done there!

And regards to BoJo's jogs, he does look like the Sugar-Puff monster looking for his bowl, hahaha!

        • Teddy.15

I have to keep myself from going on about all the politics in the world it's such a mess. 💖

              • AuburnScribbler

It is incredibly, and woefully hard to ignore isn't it!?

I've apologised a fair bit recently, of posting quite a lot of "current affairs" based poems, but as I've said, it is an enormous stinky elephant in the room, that will always win attention.

The source of all of this hurt may be, humanity's choice to remain in an evolutionary rut, to seek easy profits, at the expense of any real improvement.

But hey, these words are coming from a fellow clumsy talking monkey, hmmm? Hahaha!

                • Teddy.15

                  Don't ever apologize lol

I very much enjoyed my visit here .. and couldn't agree more .. thank heaven those two narcissists are no longer in post .. and let's pray it stays that way ... Neville

                  • AuburnScribbler

Thanks for the read Neville, and for your very kinds words, and I agree, I'm also glad that there has been a start of a realization, that such narcissists are not fit for office.

But to ensure that these "god wannabes" are not elected anymore, the people, have got to become better decision makers.

I hope that all is well.

                    • Neville

                      • Doggerel Dave

Australia had a similar: the three of them came out of the same mould with just marginally different paintwork.
A well targeted piece, Ben; the choice of sketch a perfect accompaniment - I only hope it comes to pass.

                        • AuburnScribbler

Thanks for the read Doggerel Dave, and I do remember a little bit of what happened down under, the tasteless bowl of gruel people allow is getting bigger and bigger, but like you, I hope that the horrible grey political stuff; can be poured out, and replaced with something tastier and fairer.

Thanks for your kind comment, and I hope that all is well.
