Even though the initial pain is gone

The hurting never stops

It's been how long...?

Seems like just yesterday but

It doesn't matter how long

Because it hurts every day

The person that I love...

Has forever gone away.

How can people say

That time heals all wounds?

How can they say that...

When it still hurts so much

Each and every day?

So what would they say...

If we could get letters from the dead?

People say death is painless

"It doesn't hurt!"

Whom do they mean...

When they say that?

Do they mean the one that died?

Surely they forgot, then...

The ones they leave behind....

So light a candle

Let it burn

Find the handle

Hope it's cold.

Lost for words

In the dancing flame

Who's mind wouldn't wander

Back to the warm memories it brings?

Side to side, up and down....

Back to when we went to town

Small things to remind us, make us think

Of those who left

From our lives or from everyone's

A candle for memory's sake

As my tears threaten to break...

I've only got 6 candles left to burn

I hope this tide will turn

Maybe something in the dancing flame

Is what helps take the pain away
