Brass buttons sparkle brightly
Like the eyes of many young
Pewter medals gleam
Under a Passchendaele sun.
Please say hello to carnage
The Somme is the choice today
Look at the artificial limbs
Glass eyes and prayers that say.
Dear Lord bless with your power
Each and every killing machine
We will lose a generation
Hide the mess behind closed doors
Sell poppies by the millions
Nature will cover the Earths scars.
Except for people without faces
Shell shocked, blind or driven insane
Ignored by each and every government
Museum visitors..war is real !

War museums seem to be a celebration of war - you make this very clear, I think. And it is everywhere. I grew up on war stories. It took time to work out the stupidities. Just keep the message going as you have here in a very polished piece. Thank you.
thank you for your kind comments, I think the young must be told the truth in the hope of a better future
Veterans don't get anything near what their worth, if it wasn't for them we all wouldn't be here today doing all these wonderful things we can do. 100% respect for all those who fought for our freedom. 💖
too true
I get it paint a pretty smile but that pig don’t need L’Oreal. They run but the problem stays alive pewter or brass adornments set in museums might start as meaning well but diluting tragedy with walk through fanfare works in reverse
Nice piece and timely Shout Out!
