Why Me Lord/ Until That Day

ForeverJesus7

Why me Lord?

What have I ever done,

to deserve even one,

of these pleasures I've known?

Tell me, Lord.

What did I ever do,

that was worth loving you,

for the kindness you've shown?

Lord help me, Jesus.

I've wasted it so.

Help me, Jesus.

I know what I am.

But now that I know,

that I needed you so,

help me, Jesus.

My soul's in your hands.

Try me, Lord,

if you think there's a way,

I can try to repay,

all I've taken from you.

Maybe, Lord,

I can show someone else,

what I've been through myself,

on my way back to you.

-

My Lord, I love you so.

I am your servent,

and you are my host.

You are always there,

when I need you most.

I know who I am;

the personal battles I fight,

that no one else sees,

except you, my light.

You are my sword,

and you are my shield.

So to you, my Lord,

I will always yield.

So although I may,

see earthly pleasures,

my life will always be a swirl.

Until that day,

my Lord and Savior,

I enter your heavenly world.

  • Comment from author about the poem: The first half of this piece is not actually written by me. It is a song by Kris Kristofferson, 'Why Me Lord'. If you have never heard it before, you should definitely listen to it. The second half of this piece however is written by me. - Through your precepts I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way. Your word is a lamp to me feet and a light to my path - Psalm 119:104-105 - ESV - Persistence is key

I find him calling into the secular.
Except the Lord of Hosts had left us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah.
