Tune: Beatitudo
('How bright these glorious spirits shine'
= 'O for a closer walk with God')
Psalm 34 v.14-22
********
Depart from evil, and do good
Seek peace, pursue it too
The eyes of the Lord are upon
The righteous, every one
His ears to their cray open are
he hears them, near or far
But His face is turned against those
Who have evil ways chose
The righteous cry, the Lord He hers
Saves them from their strong fears
Delivers them from troubles all
As unto Him they call
The Lord is nigh to them that be
Of a broken heart, see
Saves such as of contrite spirit
Whose hearts to Him are knit
Many are afflictions of those
The righteous, but He knows
Them, and delivers such from all
Troubles that may cause fall
The Lord protects, keeps every part
Of their mind, will, and heart
And body too, not one bone will
Be broken, intact still
Evil shall slay wicked, their fate
And those who righteous hate
They shall be desolate, bereft
No prosperity left
The Lord, He His servants redeems
E'en if all lost it seems
And none of them that trust in Hin
Slall be desolate, dim
