The Offside Rule

AuburnScribbler

From your actions, you’re clearly goal-hanging,

you’re not playing fair, when you arrange a banging,

your huge cheque, should go to someone good,

instead the millions, go to you Greenwood,

it’s seems a staple, to make a sportsman shine,

the sheep call you god, you’re so sublime,

thus, everything you see, is yours to take,

but when it comes to her, I think you should wait,

I don’t care if you’re allowed, by chief Infantino,

where you and your friends sin, in a sleazy casino,

saying “the chips are down, our money talks,

when it comes to permission, that is bought!”

Get off the pitch, and get back to your bench,

you need to reassess, in order to clench,

the concept of consent, sometimes not yours,

but in your eyes, every woman’s a whore,

you’ve got a problem, which is overly fed,

by too many people, leaving purity dead,

if a shred of humanity, in you remains,

I’m sure at some point, you’ll be allowed to play,

but know this, I don’t care about your sheet,

I care about the girls, in your hotel suite,

writhing, feeling dirty, after something cruel,

this is the definition, of the offside rule.

  • Comment from author about the poem: And the bad news, brought on by the questionable acts of mankind continues...this time, in the form of Mason Greenwood, a former footballer of Manchester United, who was accused of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault. The charges were dropped, due to key witnesses; no longer cooperating with the investigation. It's only until now, that Old Trafford, have decided to say goodbye to him. But, depressingly, when it comes to the "beautiful game", especially if we're talking about the men's game, greed and godlike manners will continue, due to millions keeping the cash flow catastrophically good. Meaning that sectors such as, healthcare, education, employment and housing, will always be in a state of financial drought, due to poor choices made by the multitude, who want to see such some questionable people, play a football match. Though the actual definition of the offside rule is, ahem: when a part of the player's head, body or feet, is in the opponent's half, or nearer to the opponent's goal line, (I think that's right), this poem, speaks directly over the sporting terminology, to address the real offside here, which is, rich sportspeople, abusing their power. The banner picture resembles a football pitch, the domain of both athleticism and sordid dramas. I hope that you enjoy this poem, again my catchphrase at the moment, when will it get any better? And as always, please do stay safe everyone.

My dear friend, I remember when the games of sport were just that, games to be enjoyed by the masses. When Sports became an industry, and the bottom line was profit versus entertainment, it lost its gloss. I hear you and cheer you!

Thanks for the read Bella and for your comments, of which, I wholeheartedly agree with.

Let some base wholesomeness return to many things, though it'll be hard to untangle the knot of wantonness, made by such a brash modern people.

I hope that all is well.

Football is a farce and all about money nowadays. I do not watch football, but rugby is so much more enjoyable - the Rugby Union World Cup starts on 8th September, I have watched EVERY match in last two world cups.

Thanks for the read Andy, and I agree with your above comments.

I used to play rugby at school, and the comradeship of the team was much better, as when it came to the football matches I saw, and now see to this day, there was/is always a fight brought on by ego or money.

Thanks for the reminder for the Rugby Union World Cup, I hope that England do very well in, and I hope you enjoy the tournament.

Thanks again, and I hope that all is well.
