It's much like anything else, if one doesn't want to see something, they never will. We need to be open to it, willing to accept. Very clear and concise write. If I may, "But all to often" should be "But all too often", otherwise a well received meaning and write

I was so busy working out the difference between hearing and listening, that I did not hear ya cos I was not listening! heehee.
Let me know if you ever get it figured out. Now, when my husband has trouble between listening and hearing, he just takes the aides out and solves the problem. lol You take care, and be good!
