Tune: Nativity
('Come, let us join our cheerful songs')
Psalm 36 v.5-10
********
Your mercy, Lord, in heavens is
And too your faithfulness
Reaches unto th clouds, it high
Yet you to us are nigh
Your righteousness like great mountains
You make waters, fountains
Your judgement they are like great deep
You do your people keep
O Lord, you preserve man and beast
From greatest unto least
How excellent, you loving, kind
In you we sure do find
Therefore we people put our trust
In you, though we mere dust
We trust in shadow of your wings
To you each joyful sings
They shall abundant, satisfied [be]
With what you give, provide
You shall make them drink the river
Of your pleasures ever
For with you is of life the fount
Blessings more than we count
Are ours, and in your pure true light
Shall we see light, ne'er night
O continue loving-kindness
To those that know you, bless
Them, and still your righteousness be
To [the] upright in heart free

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.6.8.6. A tune name I've not used before. We don't HAVE to know the tune names, of course. They hymn was sung at a wedding I went to in 1980 - dug out the Order of Service sheet. Sung it few times since then too!

Erm, for my own 'orrible wedding to KP we had well-known marriage hymns including:
'Fight the good fight';
'Through the night of doubt and sorrow' (an oldie hymn);
and the less well known hymns:
'Buried in shadows of the night';
'O'er the gloomy hills of darkness'
heehee.
Quite a write my friend, let me know when the concert begins, I'd love to hear you sing. Perhaps a duet with KP?
Thanks Bella. Notice the 'heavy' type of hymns we had for our wedding?! lol. Arggh, a duet with KP. lol.
Perhaps they were more dirges?
Yes lol. I'm not 'providing' anything useful for KP - only money for her botox! lol.
I like to think of a supreme being that is merciful. It would help a lot in my case. lol good write Orchi
Thanks SB. Yes, 'tis so I believe, though He (including 'She' elements) also has righteous anger and wrath I believe.
Certainly, some of the Old Testament does not give a picture of 'church' or 'God' being just quaintly for little old ladies each Sunday.
Good one Orchi.
Thanks Gold.
