Persevering Pleas

Tune: Quebec

('Jesu, thou joy of loving hearts')

Psalm 119 v.173-176

********

Let your Spirit help me, Lord, for

I have chosen your precepts sure

I have longed for your salvation

Which you show unto each nation

I have for your salvation longed

You bring it near, it not prolonged

And your law it be my delight

Your way illumined, clear and bright

Let my soul live, and it shall praise

You, and unto you songs shall raise

Let your judgements help me, they be

All right and true e'er, constantly

I have gone astray like lost sheep

Seek me your servant and me keep

For I do not your laws forget

Nor your laws, they are with me yet

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.8.8.8. At the very end of the Psalm, with all 176 verses, the Psalmist says he is like a lost sheep at times, but it's not a futile pursuit. He asks the Lord to seek him, maybe even if he is not seeking Him, or sometimes loses the way.

I read this aloud and loved the rhyming cadence, and the message. Beautifully done dear Orchi. A lovely hymn to accompany!
