Unprecedented

Doggerel Dave

Notice of absence from Doggerel Dave
Not absent - still here!
Keep Calm and Carry On Poeming. 😂

‘Unprecedented’ is a word

Come to be increasingly heard.

Time to batten down the hatches?

Find a new cliché? The catch is

Now climate change is here to stay

As those in power looked away.

This descriptor - oh what a dud;

No account of the flood and mud,

Or the causation of the fire.

Move now before it gets too dire:

Do make it up to higher ground,

Away from trees where they abound.

A good solution? I think not -

I’m gone before it gets too hot.

Good questions Dave, those in the know and in power knew all about this but if they did anything about it they would not get there pennies.

Thanks Andy. Pennies or any amount of dosh won't save them, only postpone.

So true, time for a new cliche’

Ohhh, is a such a good poem as this unprecedented - no precedent, nothing going before to equal or better it?!
I'm flattering now, just cos I wanted to use that long word, so I'll say it again: 'unprecedented'. lol.

        • Doggerel Dave

Well I'm glad someone decided to flatter it. Unsophisticated (that one any good to ya?) rhyming and economically short lines. Horologically (not absolutely certain with reference to that one) speaking, it took me approximately an hour. Unprecedented productivity.

I reeled off my rubbish nuttiness for today in 5 minutes! lol

My oh' my, this would appear to be a fine example of an acrostic poem for the following grossly misunderstood and likewise, underused word
UFTFNAAIOMDAAI .. and I agree with the underlying principles that inspired it .. Neville

What's that saying? "Out of the frying pan into the fire."
              Prophetic one might think.

Does it really matter what's causing it? I'm with you, when there is a fire in a theater, I'm not asking what caused it, I'm looking for an exit. Great write Dave

Great rhyme with even better content
The last 2 lines particularly impressed
              As for your notes
              100% with you
1st I've read from you Dave
              Won't be the last

Thanks peto - by all means have a delve into the stuff I've left laying around - hope it doesn't make your toes curl.......
