Madama Butterfly On The Lake.

Goldfinch60

The young geisha revels,

Revels in happiness.

She married the American,

He became the love of her life,

And then he went away.

Butterfly waited in hope,

Hoping he would return,

Return and see his son,

His son of which he knew not.

The songs of love flowed,

Flowed from the voice of Butterfly

In an absolute wonder

Showing how emotive,

How emotive music can be.

He did return,

But was married,

Married to an American lady.

Butterly was devastated,

Could see no further life,

No further life for herself.

Her son was given to the Americans

And there amongst all the tears,

All the tears of the audience

Butterfly took her life.

A wonderful emotive night,

Enjoyed by all.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Mary and I went to the cinema last night and saw Madama Butterfly On The Lake. What an incredible performance. The video shows how difficult it was to perform.

            what imagination
            must have been impactful
but also a tinged with a little
            danger filled fun
a slip and all that dramatism
            is morphed into stifled laughter
            a daring experiment..
            thanks for sharing, Andy

My absolute pleasure Mek. I never knew about this stage on the lake so I will have to look into it.

Lucky you my friend, what an evening it must have been. A beautiful opera performed in a surreal venue. A tragic end, but I'm sure you and Mary were on Butterfly wings as you left. Thank you so much for sharing!
