None Of Us Would Be Poets.

Teddy.15

There are those who write about love they've never had

what could have been?

forever wondering why, the spark wasn’t ignited?

and why, what could have been their greatest love story

never even got to its beginning

never knowing that love

yet every day, every night craving it

then, there are those

who write about love that's lost

lost through the ripples of life's ever flowing tide

that sometimes washes everything away

leaving us heartbroken to the point

it feels as though our eyes are crying blood

and our hearts have been stabbed a thousand times

and yet, somewhere in the middle of all that

there are those who are content with what they have

never knowing nor needing anything

but that, in which they have

I wonder is it really possible for anyone

to really understand another humans pain?

to empathize or show compassion

toward that, they do not understand?

I'd like to believe it's possible because

without love…

none of us would be poets.

I like to think nothing is lost, how can we empathise without the lose. If that makes any sense?

      • Teddy.15

Exactly, love makes sense or it doesn't that is the very beauty of the subject, at least for.me Thank you for coming by. 🤗

        A fine write Teddy.
Without love I would never have married KP. But I did marry her - without love. Doh!
it was a night she hid the water from my whisky. It made me says 'yesh' and 'I do!' lol.

        • Teddy.15

LOL 🤣 she told me she loves you madly deeply but she just feels numb because of the Botox lol 😆😂

          • orchidee

Yep, she probably been botox-numb for years! lol.

Teddy, I've always believed you can't really TRULY understand someone's pain unless you've experienced it yourself. And even then, you can't really know because we all feel differently. BUT, we can respect each other's pain/feelings. There are some people....empaths....who are able to feel other's emotions without experiencing. But it's rare. I love this one!! A topic I often think about. 💖💖💖💖

            • Teddy.15

Yes such a beautiful response as much as we feel ourselves we can never really feel for others because each of us has our own pain yet we can all share in our poems my favourite subject ever is love and so I thank you for coming by and sharing ❤️

Wonderful observations leading to an important question that like other important questions has more than one right answer. I love the way you have worded this dilemma organizing it into different divisions and posing the question to the reader to answer. Nicely done

              • Teddy.15

Thank you dear Sorenbarret for your magnificent understanding of my scribbles 💖

My comments on the poem "None of us would be poets” by Teddy.15
You say “without love none of us would be poets.” Indeed, the poet not only experiences love for humanity but also transmits his feelings to humanity. Some quotes :
                (a) “Second, that, the poet feels with greater intensity than ordinary men and, through his art, is able to give enduring form to the strong emotions that ideas, sights and incidents arouse in him.” S. H. Burton : "THE CRITICISM OF POETRY." London : Longman Group Ltd., 1950. (2nd Edition, 1974).
                (b) “the function of poetry is to touch the heart, to arouse emotion. Only emotion can arouse emotion. If a poet feels nothing when he writes a poem, his readers will feel nothing when they hear it. Heart must speak to heart.”
“POETRY SPRINGS FROM IMAGINATION ROUSED BY EMOTION, AND IS EXPRESSED IN MUSIC AND IMAGERY.” Wren & Martin : "HIGH SCHOOL ENGLISH GRAMMAR AND COMPOSITION." (Revised by Prasada Rao). New Delhi : S. Chand & Co., 1994. (Reprinted 1994).
                (c) “In all definitions of poetry, the common factors are the imagination and emotions; that is to say, poetry consists of emotions and feelings that are imaginatively conceived and imaginatively expressed.” Dr. C. Paul Verghese : "ADVANCED LEVEL GENERAL PAPER." Singapore : Fairfield Book Publishers Pte. Ltd., 1988.
                (d) “he (the poet) has greater knowledge of human nature. He understands accurately the nature of human passions and emotions, even of those which he had not personally experienced.” Dr. Raghukul Tilak : "WORDSWORTH : PREFACE TO THE LYRICAL BALLADS." New Delhi : Rama Brothers, 1980. (Fourth edition).

Emotions shape almost every aspect our every day lives, and you express so beautifully the need for the greatest of all, "love". While we cannot physically feel anothers pain, we recognize the signs, and that draws us to commiserate, comfort, help. These words are written from a heart that truly understands.

                      • Teddy.15

Thank you so much dear Bella, your reviews are written with your heart ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

                        Such true words Teddy.

I do understand others pain as I am a listener and have helped many people just by listening.

This is an amazingly written immaculate definition Teddy.15.

Some poems, emphatically hit the nail on the head, and this is one them.

This is a true literary triumph bravo and I hope that all is well!

                              • Teddy.15

Wow thank you I'm humbled beyond words. Thank you thank you. ❤️

                              • Pop64

The ending of the poem, as stated, sums the truth of the write up with clarity. For love, the greatest of all emotions, that which inspires, brings joy, sadness and pain, is the very foundation of poetry. It is the spark for everything else. This is a wonderful write!
