Ned’s View

Neville

Ned’s View

Just think

about it before

rejoicing,

that’s all I ask ..

Before

I swing or not

and all

for the sake

of two stocking

frames

and a bloody

brand new loom ..

The world,

our world,

this world is no

better off

for most of it ..

And while they

call it

technology,

or progress ..

It is not though,

is it ..

Nor is it a

solution to our

collective hunger ..

I call it

delusional ..

And fear it may

well be the end of us ..

It may well be Neville but hopefully some time soon people in power will realise they are destroying the world.

You are talking of robots taking over our jobs and lives. Powerful stuff dear Nev. Unfortunately here they are everywhere even the banks have cyber pens to use now. 💜

            • Neville

I am something of a Luddite myself Teddy thank you .. 💜

Oh Neville....it's definitely changing our human environment. It can be scary. Definitely not a solution to real world problems....but one can only hope....it's realized....before it's too late....or is it already? 💜

                .................................... maybe it is ............ perhaps .. 💜

                'brand new loom ..'
it all started with those pesky looms
trying to glean and weave, fate
                programming our lives in binary
                mythical, code..
should have left it all, well alone
                we were dashing
in our ignorance and animal skin...
                Brilliant!
(I bow to your superior talent
I am fan, because of poetry
like this, you share so regularly)
                thank you! Hyung
hope you n yours have a peaceful week
                🍻

OK – going to attempt to parse this conundrum.
Ned…Ned Kelly? Nah, I think not - he was more into steel rather than loom woven vests… but he did swing….
Looms? Much empathy and sympathy for the Luddites… as the benefits of new technology have not been uniformly distributed.
Thanks for the thought (or two), Neville.

Sometimes I fear we might technoligize ourselves out of existence as homo sapiens. Pyhsicist Alan Lightman suggests we may be evolving into homo techno in the far distant future, and I have to agree with him. We forget that we are part of the natural world, and we will return to it, one way or another. Great write my friend, you touch on the apprehension in all of us.

You are bang on target Bella .. even tho we are on different sides of the globe, it seems there is a link between our cerebral hemispheres .. Neville

                      • Bella Shepard

It's nice to know that my cereberal hemispheres are linked somewhere, even when they're not always linked with me. lol Take care!
