Overheated.

Well there I was on the lawn

Knocking the croquet balls around,

Hoping to get them through the hoops.

And there we all were, moaning,

Moaning about the heat.

I mean here we are in October,

The sun blazing down on us,

Many people had dressed for the season,

Hats, coats, jumpers and cardigans.

The game became a striptease,

Coats and jumpers thrown off

And laying around the lawn sides.

There were some like me

In shorts and short sleeved shirts,

We dress for the weather, not the season,

But even I was moaning about the heat

I just do not get on with it.

Bring on the cold

So that once more I can play,

Play croquet in the snow!

    Oh my! Heat? Here we are freezing in the wet autumn weather, but to be fair a few weeks ago it was warm. Very good write.

      Yes it has been unusually hot recently but the weather people say it is going to get cooler from today.

            Croquet in the snow? ( Is that anything like skiing on the lawn? ) It must have been hilarious. Just wait before you putt.
            All that aside. I enjoyed your poem and imagined the scene as the clothes came off and piled up on the side of the lawn. Well, have a good Croquet season and dress properly for it. - Phil A.

              Thank you Phil, to be fare it was not snowing much when two of us played in the snow, we did both have the signs written on our foreheads "IDIOT!". LOL.

              That Morecombe and Wise sketch is a classic here in the UK.
