The Fig Tree and the Bird

Parisab

Like a bird

perching on the fig tree,

I target with no hunger and fear

For the good tree,

gives good fruit for picking

Your love for us comes easy

when my madness is triggered

by this obscene world of smoke and bombastic fire

Our quiet and content house

is built on a good tree

which feeds from a clean stream

I’ll perch inside this gilded cage

and I swing, as the feathers fall down gentle and inevitable

Your love is a good tree

even when I am a bad fruit

Wolves and monsters howl and the

wall of silence shatter my weak heart

You are a good tree

sturdy and calm.

Aren't all trees good and giving?

          • Parisab

This was not meant in a literal sense-it was from more personal and even biblical references-of evil can not produce good…Be well…

There's just something about the reassurance trees exude to all life about. This is exquisitely penned, dear poet.

Your title evokes Aesop's fables... the Fox and the Grapes, the Lion and the Mouse, the Fox and the Hare... you have uttered a lesson for all the world. Lovely and reassuring.
