Health Questionnaire

AuburnScribbler

Now that court’s in session,

I must make this very clear,

if you admit to transgression,

then you’re out of here,

as healing is the aim,

and not some sordid profit,

not taking any blame,

means you suffocate in closet,

wellbeing can’t be gambled,

it’s literary life or death,

such repeated scandals,

makes the loss of breathe,

so, please just answer questions,

don’t do a Michael Howard,

there’s no hiding from the task,

stop playing elected coward,

as we need to repair,

our core operation,

to ensure that all is not so fair,

isn’t cooperation,

re-earn the right to sit,

in the House supposed to help,

as times run out for deficit,

do you hear our families yelp,

so, take this health questionnaire,

with utmost honesty,

as prolonged disease, is our despair,

such is the quality,

if the verdict is not guilty,

bravo for doing your job,

but if you’re found so filthy,

then cell floor, you will swab!

  • Comment from author about the poem: Samhain/Halloween 2023 for me, was a blast, and I hope it was for you too. I enjoyed writing my annual scary story/creepy pasta, and a penta-collection of seasonal poems, as well as dressing up a bit, and winning an aptly themed quiz along the way. Alas, no seances were done, or anything like that, but there is always next year. Anyway, with everything relatively back to normal, well for the time being at least, I thought I would return to some observational, current affairs bashing, in this poem. Certain notable figures, whose job it was to oversee the Covid-19 inoculation program, and everything associated with the pandemic in general, are now being questioned in court, in the UK, after the subpar handling of the situation. This also means of course, the dodgy hypocritical actions by certain persons of power, are now officially being addressed. Thus, I give you, Health Questionnaire. I hope that you enjoy the poem, there needs to be some justice and rectification here, and as always, please do stay safe everyone.

It seems that "integrity" is on life support these days my friend. The Health Questionnaire in my U.S. points to dismal failure in those who are elected to office, and sadly to those who have no idea what they are voting for. I certainly commiserate with you as to the state of things, and sincerely agree that those found guilty should have their just place, they could do with a heavy dose of humility. Good and very timely write!

Thanks for the read Bella, and for your very kind words, they're very much appreciated.

I wholeheartedly agree, with what you've said, certain parameters, that people have chosen over time, to make up the norm, has become a disease itself. The powers that be are sick, we are sick, and it would seem that in believing in such a damaging norm, no-one, it seems, has the bravery to get better, or perhaps they just simply don't want to, as they enjoy having their "place in line!"

This makes such a harrowing reality to live in. But there is always a hope.

Thanks again, and I hope that all is well.
