Upon Leaving One’s Shadow Behind

Neville

Upon Leaving One’s Shadow Behind

Together we shall

defy both mirrors

and darkness

and live together

forever in gardens ..

But don’t you dare

suffer in silence

my precious,

instead let me in ..

We need to break

bread and to share

all of these gifts

we have been given ..

Unless you are on

some kind of

mission and driven

to discredit,

and then shaming

yours truly ..

Which surely would,

I imagine, feel more

like chasing

and killing your own

precious shadow ..

By the simple act,

of starving it of all light ..

Sometimes we can certainly be our own worst enemy. Beautiful and reading it 3 times gives even more power. 🩷

I am well and truly honoured Teddy, that's twice more than me .. ❀️

I read it upside down. Is that as good as reading it 3 times?! (Do shut up Orchi, says Fido). lol.

I really love the idea of "starving your shadow of light." It's a perspective and wording I have never before heard. Beautiful words as always.

In a way, I'm kinda glad you haven't heard that before .. otherwise I may have been at risk of plagiarising myself .. kidding aside tho', I am most grateful to you Kinsey .. thank you so much ..

Seems like one is slowly withdrawing into darkness and the other is trying to bring them back. A threatened relationship at the least. It is always best not let things fester, but shine light on them. Then there can be peace.
A powerful poem of an endangered relationship. " Starving it of all light" is a very clever phrasing. Great poem. - Phil A.

Mirror, bread, diamond, gifts, are all the generous gifts of this poem. Still, humans splurge on self hatred. This poem is very buttoned up despite its easy flow…

There are no flies on you my fine literary friend .. thank you for noticing .. Neville

I know I have said it before, but a gent does not tell, let on, share or give the game away .. one does remember one's manners tho' at all times and never forgets to say thank you ... Thank you LIZ πŸ’œ
