In your day
The course was all yours
Master of ball and club
Just short of the PGA Tour
You loved the game
And the game loved you
At home on the fairway
On the putting green too
Growing up, I never realized
How great a man you really were
Now looking back
More like you I wish I were
I wish I’d played golf with you
Spent more time listening
To the memories you spoke of
Paid more attention to my dad I was hearing
Hindsight, a double-edged sword
Appreciating the past
With tear filled eyes
Sorry it went by so fast
You’d watch golf on TV
I could see it in your eyes
How you still wanted to play
Your Heaven under blue skies
And now you play a Heavenly course
With all your golfing buddies
Showing them all how it’s done
In Country Club studies

This is beautiful. I've missed your poetic writes so much dear A.P. ❤️
Thanks Teddy. That door swings both ways my dear. 🌹😉
A very touching and wholly relatable tribute to a much loved and much missed Dad ..
I know the intensity of such a loss does eventually diminish, but it never goes away completely, does it .. Neville
No it doesn't N. And just maybe, I hold onto it with a sincere loving grip. Thanks as always for your always uplifting comment. 😉
Wonderful memories AP, he will be playing every day now.
As an aside:
Dean Martin was once asked "Do you drink and drive?"
He replied "Of course not, I don't even drink and putt!"
Andy
Thanks Andy. Yeah, 'Ole Dino was known to have a few.
This poem is so beautiful my friend. It struck me deeply, for there are so many things I could have done with my father, and didn't. Hindsight can indeed bring regrets, but it can also deepen our appreciation for someone who loved us dearly, in spite of what we didn't do. Thank you for this much loved poem!
Thank you Bella for reading and your thoughtful compliment. In my Dad\'s last couple of years and since he past, I\'ve thought a lot about him and my Mom and all the things I know they and I regret that we did or didn't say or do. But I feel very in touch with them even though I know they\'re in Heaven. AS I\'ve always said, Heaven is everywhere, but especially in your heart. 😉
So beautifully said!
