Palms Processings

Tune: St Theodulph

('All glory, laud, and honour')

***********

Chorus

All glory to the Saviour

All praises to the King

On humble colt He rides now

To Him creation sings

He rides on humble donkey

And did in meekness mount

Now we again His worthies

Paschal Mystery recount - Chorus

He rides forth into [Jeru]Salem

The city, name of peace

To bring his great salvation

His honours never cease - Chorus

Tell to daughters of Zion

Prophecy fulfilled thus

Your king on lowly beast comes

Brings salvation to us - Chorus

Crowds gathered by the wayside

To Him they homage give

Palm branches waved before Him

They trust in Him and live - Chorus

Their garments spread before Him

Along the royal way

And this their joyful anthem

'Hosanna' they sing, say - Chorus

So as they their possessions

Along the road did give

Help us service offer you

That we may truly live - Chorus

'Save now Lord' that their tune sweet

Procession marches on

The Lord will then His life lay

Down for them, Holy One - Chorus

Come process in this victory

O'er sin, death, gloom's dark night

For 'tis all in the Son sure

He is the world's true Light - Chorus

Eternal King now living

Triumphant o'er the grave

Come to our hearts, bide now

And stay, us fully save - Chorus

'Blesséd He be, the one who

Comes in the Lord's name true'

Their shouts, their songs, rejoicing

Praises to Him anew - Chorus

Though later then their pleading

Is 'Crucify' and die

Yet He on cross the Victor

Given the name most high - Chorus

Our suffering Saviour dying

There see upon the tree

Now we sing to Him and praise

He redeemed you and me - Chorus

Lord of Lords reigning on high

On us favours bestow

That all the world confess you

And all people you know - Chorus

For Easter message fades not

Christ died and rose again

Will return for His own soon

Unending glories then - Chorus

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem on Palm Sunday theme. This is bit different to my usual AABB format, as it's ABCB. A joining of two poems, with verses and chorus both in 7.6.7.6. I'm sure it's Eaater in a week's time! lol.

In the advent of autumnal receding the paschal mystery waxes even more so mysterious! πŸŒ΄πŸŒΏπŸπŸŽ„πŸ₯šπŸ‡

isn't reference to certain sacred days too early in the year a bit like breaking a mirror .. just asking for a friend ..

Thanks N. Dunno! Is it the season for palm leaves? KP has broken all her mirrors, first time she looked in each one of about 500 of them - so as to reflect 'me. me, me'! heehee.

Beautifully penned dear friend, no matter when. We can learn much from a humble Jesus.
