Is It Me!

Goldfinch60

Is it me!

When I go out in the evening,

As we did last night to a show,

I go reasonably well dressed.

Polished shoes, fine trousers,

Good shirt and nice jacket,

And sometimes even a tie.

We arrived at the theatre

And looking around,

Looking around at the other men

Nearly all were dressed casually.

Jeans and trainers,

Jumpers or sweatshirts,

Casual coats.

Some of the older gentlemen

Were dressed like me

But so very few

I could have counted them,

Counted them on my hands.

Is it me?

Am I that old fashioned

That when I go out in the evening

Go out with my lady

I dress properly.

the times they are a changin .. but I quite agree with you about those ripped jeans .. the only ripped items of clothing on a lass these days should be those that are ripped off .. by mutual consent of course .. 😎👍

      So true Neville. LOL

Why, see now - even in some churches, even leaders may wear jeans - and ripped ones. Like mutton trying to be lamb, as they're not young leaders, but middle-aged!
I'm rather traditional. I think that looks scruffy in churches, especially for leaders. But then again, some don't know what a hymn book is - it's endless repetitive 'Choruses'.

      • Goldfinch60

True Orchi, I dress reasonably well for church.

It's a disgrace really. I mean, we wouldn't turn up for work in jeans. Well, It's OK in church, I suppose, but not for leaders, and especially if online services. They will think it's a congregation of tramps. Some women in jeans looked frumpy in jeans, as KP does! lol.

Perhaps they can't afford new or new or decent clothes, cos that church keeps asking for appeals of a million quid or more! Doh!

          Yes!!!! 😂

PS: ripped jeans - rediculusss (or something). Mind you - that could be where her brains poured out in a hurry....

Thanks Dave, those ripped jeans cost a fortune!

Dressing nice for your lady is the classy thing to do. Not much class in the planet these days. Seems crass is the work. Nice

Thanks John, it is the way I was brought up and I have great deal to be thankful for.

Beautiful work. Love S AND G

                    Thank you Thomas.
Yes I love S and G as well, we often sing their songs in the choir of which I am a founder member.

I think people should dress as nicely as possible given their financial situation...although if they were poor, they probably couldn't afford the show. Yes, ripped jeans are ridiculous!

                    • Goldfinch60

True words Christina, if they can afford to go to the show they could afford to dress reasonably well.

It could be you, and maybe not you. But either way, a person will dress for they're own comfort. Ultimately, I think its a generation thing. Me? I think dressing more towards the nicer side is respectful of the show and performers. The kids? They're going to do whatever they want anyway. And you Andy, you're a guy with class. 😉👍

You are right AP, and yes it show respect to the performers as well. Thank you.
